Bundle + Riziki Personal Cover
Equitel subscribers now have access to a mobile-based insurance product, called Riziki Cover that eases the financial burden associated with lost daily income from one’s employment or personal business in case of hospital admission.

To qualify, you must :
Be an Equitel customer
Purchase the Equitel bundle by dialing *544#, then select option 5.
You can also use the Equitel sim tool kit> select my money> select buy data bundles> select option 3.
Please note that you must continue to meet the criteria each month to get coverage for the next month.
The cover will pay you Ksh 2,500 per night that you stay overnight in a hospital. Customers are eligible for this benefit if they have stayed 3 or more nights in a row in a hospital. There is a maximum benefit equivalent to 30 nights during a 12-month period, for each person covered on the policy.
The benefit amount is not meant to cover the costs of medical care like NHIF or other medical covers but can be used as you wish. For example, it could be used to replace some of the income lost due to hospitalization or to cover some of the additional costs often incurred along with hospitalization like medicines, food, or transportation. The benefit amount will be paid to you as the Equitel subscriber into your Equity Bank account.
You can sign up in two ways:
1. Purchase the Equitel bundle by dialing *544# > Select option 5 (500 min + Riziki@1249 for 30 days)
2. Use the Equitel SIM tool kit> Select my money or my phone> Select buy airtime/data bundles> Select your account> Select Buy Data Bundles> Select the Equitel line you intend to subscribe with. This will have you automatically subscribed to the service.
There is a one month waiting period for your full cover to become active after you sign up. However, even in the first month, you will be covered if you've paid your first premium AND your hospitalization is due to an accident.
Please note: An accident means any unforeseeable event like a vehicle crash. Accident does NOT mean sickness.
Once you purchase the bundling option, the cover will run for one month. This means that from the day you purchase the cover it will run for 30 days. For you to be eligible for the next month you need to purchase the bundle again.
We give you one month to pay your premium. If we can't collect your premium amount by the end of the month when it's due, your cover will be suspended for the next month. If you pay your premium during the cover suspension month, your cover will immediately automatically restart.
Yes you can and the great news is that you can claim both cash payout for the Riziki cover (light user) and the bundling cover. All you need is to meet the requirements for both covers.
